Content policy enforcement with Claude
Completed by opening the official lab
Why it matters
Claude never decides the verdict here. It runs in two places only: compiling the policy into rules, and reading each piece of content.
What to practise
Have Claude compile a prose policy into a versioned JSON ruleset, with a static validator feeding errors back for repair. Extract typed fields from text and images with structured outputs (output_config.format). Then let a rule engine with no model and no I/O decide block, flag, needs_review or approve, with an audit trail for every rule. Watch how a judgment clause becomes an LLM-judged derived field, and how a changed placement context changes the verdict without another model call. For the borderline sample, the fix is to sharpen one field description, not the rules.
How it fits
The pipeline is 1.2.1’s request lifecycle with an explicit contract at each stage. The rule engine is the deterministic owner that 1.2.2 puts behind business decisions. The extraction is 1.2.3’s structured interface. Fixing a field description and rerunning the evaluation is 1.2.4’s loop from correction to tested release.
