MicrosoftMicrosoft Certified: Multi-Agent AI Solutions Expert2026-101.2 Specify technology components to include in a multi-agent solution

Exercise - Add a dev container to an existing project

Completed by opening the official lab

Why it matters

An agent team needs the same runtime, tools and dependencies on every machine, and a dev container is the versioned definition that delivers them.

What to practise

Use Dev Containers: Add Development Container Configuration Files to add a Python 3 template, inspect the .devcontainer/devcontainer.json it writes, and reopen the project in the container. Confirm the Remote Indicator and the container’s Python version, install the dependencies, and run the Flask app.

How it fits

This is general-purpose: the project is a Flask dashboard, not an agent. What matters for 1.2.9 is that the environment lives in devcontainer.json under version control; the exercise installs dependencies by hand, which 1.2.9’s postCreateCommand and extension settings would automate.
