Combined Guardrails: Healthcare Patient Support Chatbot

Why it matters

A regulated assistant rarely needs one detector. This notebook stacks three in one configuration, so you can see how their order decides what each detector, and the log, ever sees.

What to practise

Load a RailsConfig that declares a main model plus content_safety and topic_control models on engine: nim, and input rails that run gliner detect pii on input before the content safety and topic safety checks. Run the four scenarios — safe, unsafe, off-topic, and a message carrying a name, SSN and date of birth — against hosted or local NIMs, then the batch evaluation. Note which rail fires first for each scenario, and which output rails run on the answer.

How it fits

The input and output flow lists are 7.1.1’s stage placement and 7.1.2’s config.yml wiring. The safety and topic NIMs are the detectors 7.1.3 integrates — compare the four scenarios with the representative traffic you would need to measure misses and false positives.
